In the previous episode (watch the recording here), we built an app that reacts to work item link events in Jira and automatically enforces your link governance rules.
In this follow‑up session, we take that foundation further and add real‑time feedback for users directly in the Jira issue view. You’ll see how to combine the Forge Realtime capability with the Jira Issue view background script to surface popup notifications when your app intervenes on a work item link.
We’ll walk through how to:
Wire up a Forge event trigger to publish realtime notifications when links are automatically removed or restored
Subscribe to those events from an issue view background script and display contextual flag notifications to the right user, on the right issue
Use actions link in the notification popup
You’ll come away with a reusable pattern for turning backend events into clear, real‑time in‑product notifications.
