Ten years. Eleven members to over 6,000. One community.

In 2016 we started with 11 people in a room in Nairobi. Today the Atlassian Community Nairobi is more than 6,000 members strong and one of the most recognised chapters in the world.

This is the one we have been building towards for a decade. Join us as we celebrate ten years of Atlassian Community Nairobi: the people, the products, the projects, and the decade of teamwork that got us here.

Ten years ago we could not have imagined this. Members who came for a Jira dashboard walkthrough went on to lead engineering teams, found companies, ship products used across the continent, earn certifications, become Atlassian Champions, and start communities of their own. Some are still with us from that first meetup. Many joined last month. All of you built this.

As we mark ten years, we are looking back at how far the tools and the teams have come, and forward at what the next decade of teamwork, AI, and ecosystem building looks like from Nairobi.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• A celebration first, with a short, high-value programme built around three talks and plenty of room to connect.

• A decade of Atlassian tools. A community speaker on how the platform has evolved over ten years, where AI now fits, and what it means for how modern teams actually work.

• A community story. A member, customer, ecosystem contributor, or friend of Atlassian sharing a real account of transformation, collaboration, and impact.

• What comes next. An Atlassian representative or Atlassian Solution Partner on current product developments, ecosystem opportunities, and the future of teamwork.

• Board games and experiences. Friends of Atlassian Community Nairobi are bringing board games and hands-on experiences, open throughout the day. Play between sessions, meet people you have not met yet, and find out what our partners have been building.

• Then the 10-year retrospective, community recognition and awards, the anniversary cake cutting, food, drinks, and live mixing from THE DJ MK.

• Connections will be made. Dancing shoes will be used.

AGENDA: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM

• Board games and partner experiences run throughout, from doors open to close.

• 2:00 PM. Registration, Music, Atlassian Trivia and Ice Breaker. Doors open with good music, great conversations, and Atlassian trivia with prizes to warm up the room.

• 3:00 PM. Welcome and 10-Year Retrospective. Where we started in 2016, how we got to 6,000+, and the members who built it.

• 3:30 PM. Community Presentation. A decade of Atlassian tools: evolution, AI capabilities, and what it means for modern teams.

• 4:15 PM. Atlassian Talk. Current product developments, ecosystem opportunities, and the future of teamwork.

• 5:00 PM. Community Recognition Awards. Honouring outstanding community members who have gone above and beyond over ten years.

• 5:45 PM. Anniversary Cake Cutting and Speeches. The 10-year cake, and a few words from those who have been here since the beginning.

• 6:30 PM. Food, Drinks, Networking and Music Takeover. Live deejay set from THE DJ MK, with board games and experience stations still open.

CELEBRATING WITH PURPOSE: SR. FRANCIS TIMAU PROJECT

A ten-year milestone for us as a community goes beyond tech and we call upon all our members and friends to make this anniversary count beyond the celebration itself

Our anniversary is connected to a fundraising initiative supporting the Sr Francis Timau Project, the organisation adopted through Atlassian. USD 2,500 has already been raised, and our target for this celebration is up to USD 10,000.

The work supports education, assistance for people living with HIV, support for survivors of gender-based violence, support for individuals and families affected by cancer and tuberculosis, and shelter, food, and essential assistance for vulnerable children and people experiencing homelessness.

Ten years of a community that gave its members opportunities, now paying some of it forward. Contribution is voluntary and entirely separate from your RSVP.
