AMA: Get started with Assets Data Manager

Data Manager enables you to ingest, cleanse, and reconcile data from multiple sources, giving you complete, current, and correct asset data.

In this session, you will learn how to:

• Create and run a job

• Define cleansing rules and remove unwanted data

• Reconcile data from multiple sources

• Create searches and dashboards

• Import data into schemas

• Please note, this is not a comprehensive training session, but a hands-on workshop.

• You’re welcome to follow along as the presenter demonstrates the configuration steps. However, due to the large number of participants, we won’t be able to pause for everyone to complete each setup task during the session. Thank you for your understanding!

3. Enable Data Manager in Your JSM Instance

• Steps:

  • From the main navigation bar, click on Assets

  • Go to Settings > Data Manager

  • Enable the toggle: Turn on Assets Data Manager

4. Assign Permissions

• Under Access, add your user to both:

  • Data Manager admin

  • Adapter admin

5. Create a Notes Page

• Create a Confluence or Google Doc page titled “Data Manager Setup” for your notes and links.

6. Prepare Sample Data

• Unzip the DataManagerSampleData file and note its location in your setup page. Click here to download this file.

7. Download the Data Manager Client

• Save the download location in your notes page.

8. (Optional) Connect to External Data Sources

• If you want to test with external data, sign up for a Lansweeper trial and obtain an API token: https://www.lansweeper.com/product/download/

• Alternatively, you can use CSV files only for setup.
