We've all been there: the company says they care about team health, but from your perspective and that of your peers; it's just not true. Or, you're an executive and you know the product teams aren't working as well as they could, but you don't know how to justify spending more money on team health when the profit margins aren't where they should be. We're here to help.

About this event
Welcome to the Tacos & Team Health Tour!
We've all been there: the company says they care about team health, but from your perspective and that of your peers; it's just not true. Or, you're an executive and you know the product teams aren't working as well as they could, but you don't know how to justify spending more money on team health when the profit margins aren't where they should be. Our three speakers will show you why focusing on team health is the most important thing you can do to transform your company from a business that's getting there, into a powerhouse of whatever industry you're in, all by focusing on the true unit of success: the team.
- Mark Cruth, Atlassian's Modern Work Coach, will lead a hands-on workshop on why work is broken, and how to fix it.
- Mark Nijmeijer, Sr. Director of Product Management at HYCU, will share how backup and recovery is core to keeping your team happy.
- Bryan Guffey, Sr. Atlassian Administrator at Sonos and LA ACE Leader, will discuss how we shape our teams by the tools we use, and what we need to do to ensure our tool choices support who we say we want to be.
And of course, all great teams start over great food, so we'll be feeding you some of the best tacos in LA, along with sides and drinks!
NOTE: in order to ensure safety for all attendees and ensure our event is the most accessible to all, in-person attendees will be required to either: 1. Opening & Icebreaker by Alex Ortiz
The Modern Work Manifesto with Mark Cruth
Abstract: Work is broken. We point to the pandemic as the cause, but the reality is work was broken far before we all learned to work from home. To fix work we need to fundamentally change the way we approach it…we need something to rally us together…we need a manifesto!
During this hands-on workshop we’ll dive into the principles that shape the Modern Work Manifesto, such as flow and adaptability. Discover how to implement the manifesto in your work by incorporating three practical techniques that you can begin applying as early as tomorrow. Viva la Modern Work!
Managing Murphy’s Law with Backup and Recovery with Mark Nijmeijer
Deletions, corruptions, and general version control kerfuffles can be damaging not only to productivity but also to team health. Whether on Atlassian Cloud or GitHub, recovering data and configurations is your team’s responsibility. Join Mark Nijmeijer, Sr. Director of Product Management, in a workshop covering:
Access and data protection best practices to avoid data/config loss.
Selecting the right approach to data/configuration restore
Eliminating data loss threats across DevOps – from Atlassian and CI/CD pipelines to Git Repositories
The Tool is the Team is the Tool with Bryan Guffey
We tend to think of the tools we use to execute work as separate from the teams we form to do that work. But guess what? They're not! Let's take a quick journey through several familiar products and learn how they've been influencing the way our teams are formed and how well they work for longer than any of us have been around. You'll definitely leave this session thinking more thoughtfully about what tools you choose to get work done.
