Engineers at Netflix build resilient, high availability services to deliver streaming video to 158 million subscribers and they expect the same high availability from the developer tools they use to build them. Taking downtime for Jira upgrades is unacceptable for our developers and a burden on the Jira team that must work nights and weekends to minimize the distraction.

Last year Netflix moved to Jira Data Center and by combining DC features, AWS cloud, and Netflix operations tools we transformed our traditional view of deployments and embraced upgrading during normal business hours. Our customers were never interrupted and the Jira team could enjoy their nights and weekends.
