Project Portfolio Management (PPM) has been an important topic amongst Jira users for as long as any of us — the Atlassian Community Champions who lead this chapter — can remember.
In fact, in the first-ever meet-up of Program/Project Masters several Jira Plans pros helped us grasp ways of working with Plans, but there were a number of questions from the audience about the significant differences between Plans, and some of the popular project portfolio management add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace.
For our next event, we're inviting experts who work for some of the companies that make some of the popular PPM add-ons to chat with us about the essential differences as they seem them.
Plus, one of the Atlassian Community Champions who lead the chapter and is familiar with several of these tools will represent a more neutral perspective.
Speakers are still being determined, but we plan to have a representatives from:
Atlassian > Jira Plans
Appfire > Big Picture
Tempo > Structure
Deiser > Projectrak
Trundl > Simple Portfolio Management
An Atlassian Community Champion from Program/Project Masters > PPM on Jira Pro who's neutral about tooling
Our panelists will take questions from our moderators and from the audience. Those questions will not be rehearsed—our panelists will hear them when you do.
And each panelist will need to abide by a strict one or two minute max response time, depending on the question.
There will be no presentation or demos this time around — just Qs & As — but we are planning a PPM focused version of Apptoberfest 2026 (happens every October) where each vendor will be allowed to give a brief presentation/demo that shows off their product's advantages.
As always, everyone who RSVP's will have access to the event recording. So, sign-up today even if you aren't free at the appointed day/time.
