The Atlassian Community features a global network of people who meet online and in-person with a shared mission to build relationships and expand their knowledge of Atlassian products. Community Leaders are the stewards of this movement, investing in and shaping its future. They are an extension of the Atlassian Team and today we'll be joined by R&D Tools Administrator, Jimmy Seddon, Jira Queen Susan Hauth and ProVisions Systems President, John Funk, who will talk through their experiences in getting Jira certified and how it’s impacted their careers.
Sr R&D Tools Administrator
Atlassian Expert and Community Champion
Coming from a multi-faceted technology background, including Software Development and Quality Assurance, James is a passionate Atlassian expert and champion. James uses his expertise to support and enable others throughout the Software Development Life cycle and unleash the potential in the tools they utilize.
John’s ability to advocate for the customer as well as maintain the integrity of the organization is unmatched. When I reported to him, he had just taken over the Operations portion of a project on which we were both working. He immediately crafted a plan to complete the application along with processes for testing and documentation. John handled the details of each screen, trained the developers and engineers on how the system worked and edited the documentation to convey system specifics. He was ever available to discuss the project and was always open to new ideas and putting them into practice. Working with John has taught me so much about business and how a good management style can inspire a team.
John Funk is the Agile Tools Administrator at Ramsey Solutions (a Dave Ramsey Company) in the Nashville, Tennessee area. He currently serves as the lone dedicated Jira Administrator for 900+ users. John has more than 15 years of project management experience in the Federal Government Contractor area along with another 12+ years in the private/commercial workspace.
John is also an Accredited Kanban Coach (AKT) and has a passion for process architecture/improvement. A teach at heart, he also enjoys conducting classes in Jira and Kanban for the entire company.
Susan has been passionately working with Jira (and Confluence) since 2008, so much so her official title at Confluence Technologies (not Atlassian) was changed to Jira Queen in 2014 which is around the same time Susan signed on to revitalize the Toronto Atlassian Community group. Susan continues to co-lead the Toronto ACE with Danny, Saurabh and Majken and enjoys spending time with so many Atlassian enthusiasts sharing best practices, new features and great apps.
