A strong community is propped up by a handful of key components: shared values, a desire to learn, clear guardrails for participation and, perhaps most importantly, an environment where members feel welcome to share their questions and ideas. As Atlassian Community members, you exemplify this vibrant spirit through your participation online and at in-person events.

That said, we find ourselves in somewhat uncertain times with the onset of COVID-19, which makes gathering in real life more challenging. In the interim, virtual events can be a productive solution, keeping the health of all members at the forefront.

The Atlassian Community team is working closely with us, your local Community Leaders, to crowdsource best practices and tools to help execute these virtual events as seamlessly as possible, and we appreciate your support and understanding. You’ll be hearing much more in the coming weeks, so stay tuned, and review these general tips:

• Stay informed. Listen to the advice of public health experts from reputable sources like the World Health Organisation. Wash your hands frequently, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

• Check your email for events updates. As the situation is constantly evolving, keep an eye out for communications from Leaders about any changes or cancellations.

• Attend our first Virtual ACE. This will be held via Zoom meeting on Wednesday 29 April at 2 pm. If you are keen to attend please RSVP above.

• Offer up ideas. We’re all learning together when it comes to what virtual events might look like, so if you have topics or techniques that have worked for you, please feel free to reach out to us on the Wellington Atlassian Community Events space. If you are new to the Atlassian Community start here. There is also an NZ-wide Slack group you can join here.

If you have any questions or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your patience and overall support.
