When do you read manuals? You may read your car's manual when something goes wrong. You may skip the manual when putting together furniture if you're feeling confident. Or you may religiously consult the manual (source of truth) the way it's intended to. Users also come with manuals that we take for granted. In this event, we will look at them and how they can set your new team up for success!

BRING YOUR LAPTOP!
In this ACE, we will run through the User Manual team play found here: https://www.atlassian.com/team-playbook/plays/my-user-manual. You might think after reading the description that you do not need to attend as you can do this on your own, but sometimes it helps to see a play in action before you try to implement it for your team. We'll spend a few minutes discussing the play, followed by some deep thought time for you to fill out the worksheet. Next, we'll briefly discuss questions from the user manual, and conclude by giving you an opportunity to add your thoughts on how to make this play more effective and/or share past experiences forming new teams.
Whether you're here in person or attending remotely, we'll run this play across both platforms, which gives you an idea of how this would work if you were on a distributed team! You might think that it's pointless to do a user manual with other people in this ACE as you will likely not work with them, but this is all the more reason for you to attend so you can get a hands-on feel for how to safely get to know your team members and have your team members get to know you.
It's going to be fun. Guaranteed. (Food available for those attending in person).
