About this event

"Every organization is either a digital organization or transforming to be one. At the center of this transformation is the software team. Modern software teams are not limited to the IT department alone, they include designers, marketers, and product managers among other roles who are essential in the shipping of high-quality software products. Today’s typical software developer does way more than what a typical software developer did 15 years ago. Organizations need to level up their teams by improving communication and transmission of information in order to ensure the team can thrive. This calls for the need for various tools to effectively collaborate with other roles and departments in the organization for the purpose of assembling modern quality software products.

Collaboration begins from the IDE – how you write your comments, when and how you make your git commits, how you write your commit messages, how tasks get updated on Jira, and how you conduct your peer reviews. To enforce best practices in software development teams, team members need to be cognizant of lean and agile philosophies. These philosophies should be incorporated into their work culture for optimum performance in delivering quality software to their customers. This talk is aimed at getting the audience to incorporate some of the best practices employed in software development teams in the daily development of software. It will introduce and cover: software teams' collaboration practices using Agile–Scrum practices, Lean practices, and Git best practices by creating a project on Jira and pushing source code through the bitbucket pipeline. "At Kyosk, we try as much as possible to be an agile team and actually use some of the Atlassian tools while practicing agile.

The presentation will start by introducing what agile is and comparing it with other work methodologies. I will then introduce tools that are used by agile teams to make sure they deliver a product effectively.

The last part will be focused on sharing about practices followed by an agile team from the time an idea is brought up to the delivery of a product."
