We meet every other month to talk about all things Atlassian, from JIRA, dashboards to perfecting your Stash workflow. Information Systems Assistant
A Computer Scientist and true entrepreneur, he is the founder of Banta Technologies (BT). He has always been passionate about technology and how it can be used to leverage and transform Africa in the way we live, work, play and govern. When it comes to building, his ultimate goal is to make the world a better place. Banta is an entrepreneur and an engineer on the bleeding edge of technology.
Developer, Tech Evangelist, Trainer and Maker
Paul Maina has been a software developer for 18 years and has been focussed more on web-based technologies. Old school technologies still take the cake (tried and tested and faster implementation). He currently works for the UN Environment and is heavily involved in building and maintaining existing applications. He is currently managing the organization's Jira, Bitbucket and Confluence instances as well as managing the server farm hosted on the cloud and wholly running on CentOS.
He has previously worked with a number of private organizations and some international organizations as well. One of the applications he built won an award for the best solution from an African country at the Stockholm Challenge in 2006. He is well versed in PHP, .Net and C# platforms. He is what can be described as a Full Stack developer with some extra roles in System Administration in Windows and Linux based platforms as well as Database Management on MySQL, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
Outside of work, Paul loves fast cars and loves manual control when driving. he also has a knack for cooking gourmet dishes. His love for action-packed movies and TV series completes his weekends. He is currently on a diet programme to shed off his tummy and acquire a beach body.
When she is not coding, She enjoys gardening/farming and spending time with domestic and farm animals. She also likes traveling to new places and writing poems about her experience. Her aim is to step into the waters of all the oceans and major seas of the world. Once in a while, she flexes her writing muscles. She has a blog series focused on mental health awareness.She is also the author of From Nada to Prada which is a short story describing her life in an attempt to encourage people from poor or remote areas. She spends her weekends mentoring high school students on how to code in an initiative known as TeencodeAfrica or coaching at RailsGirls Nairobi.
