About this event

2019 AUG Kickoff - New Location

Our first AUG meeting of 2019 will be Monday, February 11, in a festively decorated meeting room at Casa Juarez, a fairly new – and quite spacious Mexican Restaurant on Dorsett (12710 Dorsett Road) just a few hundred yards west of McKelvey. There is a large parking lot that extends around to the back.

We looked at numerous locations to replace Schlafly Bottleworks Crown Room, the location the past couple of years for our year-opening kickoff. This was necessary because the Crown Room was greatly reduced in size in the past year due to expansion of their Maplewood location’s production facilities - the occupancy limit went down to about 1/3 of the previous size. We’ll miss it, but you'll like this new facility with its bright colors and festive atmosphere.

:: PLEASE RSVP NOW – WE EXPECT THIS TO BE A POPULAR EVENT ::

J I R A    A M A    P A N E L   - LIVE, OPEN Q&A with 4 PANELISTS

We’re pretty excited about the plans for this meeting – a Jira AMA (Ask Me Anything) Panel Discussion. The 4-member panel will consist of both fellow AUG members and Atlassian Solution partners.

SEE THE SPEAKER SECTION BELOW TO REVIEW BIOS + PHOTOS OF  OUR FOUR (4) JIRA AMA PANELISTS.

The group brings a great mix of experiences with Jira specifically, and their outlooks on Jira from working within  one company (as our user member panelists do), or working as a consultant with many companies (as our partner panelists do). A lot to learn from each of these points of view on various Jira topics.

You can also participate as an audience member of course – indeed, that’s the whole point of an AMA! We may start with some basic general questions, but we certainly want audience input as well. So start thinking about your Jira questions and challenges now.

You are welcome to send questions in to me in advance – this will put your question in the queue. If you do this we will give you an option: you are welcome to ask the question yourself, or we would be happy to ask the question on your behalf (or anonymously, if you don’t want to reveal the source).

The AMA will take up the core of this meeting, but we will plan some time on either side of the panel discussion for announcements, informal chats and networking.

:: PLEASE RSVP NOW TO ASSURE YOU GET A SPOT (THERE'S A ROOM CAP) ::

As always, the following are all (and always) FREE to our attendees:

  • Food
  • Drink
  • Swag – from Atlassian (and sometimes Partners)

Whether you can make this meeting or not -we always want to hear from you about topic ideas, venue suggestions, and about your willingness to volunteer to present on any Atlassian or Atlassian-related topic.

:: UPCOMING MEETING NOTICE ::
We are looking right now for those who want to give short-form talks (10 min or less) – these so-called ‘Thunder Talks’ are looking to be the central part of our March meeting. Please email me or see me at the next meeting with your ideas.

FREE ATLASSIAN GOVERNANCE SESSION: FEBRUARY 22

From local partner Expium: On the heels of their first successful FREE Atlassian Governance session held last year in St. Louis, Expium is holding another one on Friday, February 22. This one will be held ‘live’ in Redwood City, CA but they are offering an online participation option as well. For more information and a link to register, go to https://expium.com/governance

ATLASSIAN SUMMIT: IN LAS VEGAS ON APRIL 9-11

Atlassian is holding its annual Summit, April 9-11 (Tuesday through Thursday)this year,  in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay’s South Convention Center. Since the inception of Atlassian’s US Summits in 2009, this is the first time there has been a missed year (no US Summits in 2018), and the first time it's been held outside of northern California. Their decision to add a Euro Summit prompted them to have each of their Summits on an 18-month vs roughly 12-month cadences. So, if you’ve been to a Summit before, it’s been a while and will be a while beforethe next one, so you know you don’t want to miss Summit 2019.  If you’ve never been, try to get there.  See the Main Summit Landing Page.
